SIR - I found the Reverend Sue Irwin's attitude towards plastic flowers narrow minded (Worcester News, May 30) and using "dear departed ones" as reason for her actions deeply offensive.
I feel sure our dearly departed would prefer to see plastic flowers that are in need of a wash in preference to natural flowers that have been left in place long after a respectable removable date.
These days plastic flowers are produced to such a high quality that, from a short distance, I personally find it difficult to differentiate between the two.
I do admit however that the weather can have an effect on plastic flowers. But if the Rev Irwin feels so strongly regarding this matter, my suggestion to her is every so often to take a bucket of soapy water into her churchyard, and give the plastic flowers a dip and a shake.
JOHN EVANS, Kempsey.
