SIR - I have been a daily reader of your newspaper for more than 50 years.
On a daily basis and increasing in number are the articles I read about the violence, aggression and anti social crimes that take place.
Virtually every case from the courts you report is drink-related. It obviously links very much in with youth offending and the appalling scenes you see in the city centre at the weekend.
So what are we going to do about it? Yes, that's right - ban smoking!
Let's have someone with a little nerve who'll say alcohol and its consequences are a major problem. Let's tackle the issue with the same punitive measures that are to be imposed on smokers - that you can only drink in your own home.
