SIR - I would like to comment on the article in your food and drink review of the Bell in Eckington (Worcester News, May 25).
I was very surprised that your critic did not enjoy the food on offer.
I regularly eat there and have never had a bad meal yet. As a matter of course, the staff always check diners are satisfied when eating their meals. Why did your critic not raise any issues then? The new owners have, in my opinion, done a great job in turning a failing village pub into a real asset.
I did wonder how qualified your critic was to make her judgement, based on the fact she ordered a wine totally inappropriate for the food chosen.
The owners displayed the review in the bar to invite opinion. Not only did I think this was a brave decision but evidence of their commitment to quality, service - and the belief they have got it right. Everyone I discussed your article with was in agreement that the comments were not representative of their experience.
CARL SCHMIDT, Bricklehampton.
