SIR - Thank you Gary (Letters, May 16) for your enlightening information about the drinking habits in the UK, during the past 90 years.
The timing I was referring to was the introduction of the 24-hours-a-day drinking.
It has been the norm on the Continent for many years but we have only had this convenience for a couple of years.
And our young folk have taken great advantage of it by binge drinking, followed by drunken punch-ups and other booze-related disturbances and crime.
Peter Alcock, Upton Snodsbury.
