SIR - All we are reading and hearing about just lately is poor pensioners living in sheltered accommodation.

Many of them face problems that would not be going on if each scheme had its own attached warden instead of the new community wardens.

When our resident wardens were attached to just the one scheme, not only did we hear less of the troubles that are now going on but the pensioners felt safe.

People at the Langdale sheltered accommodation scheme are now asking for iron gates as they feel they would be safer, but not only would these make our community unsightly but they would make our sheltered schemes look like a prison.

Do we have to take such measures to make the pensioners of this community feel safe or should Worcester Community Housing be looking into putting on-site wardens back into place to make our pensioners not only feel safer but happier as well?

With the changes WCH has made, it has not only left vulnerable pensioners feeling unsafe and unhappy in their own homes but is causing a lot of bickering between the tenants who are in the schemes.

Their way of living has completely changed by not having their resident warden there to support and encourage them.

WCH not only took away their warden, it took away their friend, their security and their happiness - is this how we should be treating the elderly of this community?
