IR - We have been told that we can keep our imperial measures - at last someone in the EU has bowed to our wishes, so people power has won another battle.

Therefore I must totally disagree with your editorial comment (May 10). Ounces, pints and feet are very much important. Why we have to be told by unelected EU bureaucrats how we can or cannot run our lives as we want to smacks of the 1984-style big brother which has been with us since Edward Heath sold us down the river to Europe.

I, for one, have my kitchen scales and all my recipe books in imperial measures and I always use imperial measures. When watching cooks, chefs and anyone using measures on TV, they very often quote imperial as well as metric when measuring food.

The same applies when the weather forecasters are giving the weather forecast.

So, as I have said many times before, let's keep Britain 100 per cent British and the sooner we leave the EU the better it will be for us in very many ways.
