SIR - We have a mayor and an MP who both think the post office move into WH Smith is silly. We'll soon see how powerful these people really are.
My guess is the move will happen and the various dignitaries will roll over, as they always do.
And it won't end with just the move. Trained post office workers who quit will be replaced - if at all - by trainees on minimum wage. And there will be trouble if Smith's employees are asked to sit in for a bit, just to help out' in the Post Office section. Wage and working-practice differences will see to that.
It's a rehearsal for privatisation and nothing we do or say will stop it.
Bob Jones, Worcester.
