SIR - As a frequent visitor to Germany I would observe that the German Festival at Pitchcroft just came across as a Liverpudlian wheeze to sell beer at £3 a pint.
As "a taste of the German lifestyle", apart from sitting on benches at long tables, it missed the mark by quite some way. Also, nearly all event publicity showed beer being consumed out of large glasses, but at the event it was plastic glasses only due to health and safety regulations.
At German outdoor festivals, presumably under the same EU regulations, beer is sold in glasses.
