SIR - I agree with Stanley Parr of Pershore (Letters, April 17), the regions are indeed here, quietly working away, costing millions each year.
And, of course, the calls from local New Labour for the mergers of city and county councils to form unitary authorities are not just about saving money, they are about supporting Blair in his untiring, undemocratic efforts in pushing us further down the road towards Europe.
However, if his actions are really in the interests of England, why not have a devolved English parliament?
Perhaps he could add that to his legacy, since at the moment he is desperate for good meaningful content - unless of course he would be leaving us the eventuality of having yet another war to leave Europe.
Brian Hunt, Worcester.
