SIR - At every election our MP or various councillors appear in local papers telling us Droitwich canals re-opening work will begin later that year.
Recent reports implied Wychavon had received millions in different grants over many years for this, which all lies unspent in bank accounts giving them a tidy income.
To make us think the real thing was about to happen, politicians recently used the press to show themselves unveiling a Wych barge. The barge was boarded up next day, unfinished, and its builders disappeared never to return.
Well if this Mary Celeste is an indicator of future progress on our canals, you should headline all future press re-releases unfinished business'.
