SIR - As a resident of Worcestershire (formerly the hamlet of Oldfield, near Ombersley) I would like to add my voice to the ones of anger and outrage to the news that the main post office in Worcester is to close and move to WH Smith, two blocks further up on the high street.
What idiots.
I have nothing against WH Smith, but the Worcester post office is a lifeline to many older people, those people who, like friends of ours living near our old cottage, had to use it after the Ombersley post office closed down due to the retirement of the postmaster there.
I have used it myself on may occasions and always found it to be most convenient and excellent value for money. The 303 bus into Worcester used to stop just outside it as well, and still does, I'm sure.
I feel very sorry for the workers at the post office and hope that a satisfactory solution can be found that doesn't tread on anyone's toes.
As former president of the United States Ronald Reagan once said: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" My sentiments exactly!
MISS VALERIE ALSTON, Droitwich
