SIR - Following on from the comment that the pregnant woman who was fined for not putting her rubbish bags in the bin was an easy target, I would suspect the council are in breach of the race relations laws.
After all, the travellers are treated as an ethnic minority and the pregnant woman is presumably not a traveller, but a member of another ethnic group.
Some of the travellers are men, and were not fined for leaving litter, so there is also the question of gender equality to be considered.
It would be interesting to hear the official response. In any case it is morally wrong just to target some individuals. I also noticed that when the group of travellers recently camped near Droitwich moved on, there was suddenly what appeared to be a council employee clearing up the mess and the gas cylinder left behind.
Did the council do this so that there would be no public outcry and no one would notice there had been no prosecution?
