SIR - It is said we are all getting fatter but this seems strange because it is also said we throw away half the food we buy.
A lot of this can be put down to the way food is packaged.
Years ago you could go into the grocer and order say two rashers of bacon or even two sausages and maybe a couple of slices of black pudding.
Because of the packaging now it would be eight rashers of bacon, maybe 10 sausages in a packet and the black pudding would be a complete sausage. I don't think you can get sliced black pudding.
So you either eat the lot and get fat, or eat what you need and throw the rest away.
It is a no-win situation, whichever you choose.
JOHN SHEARON, Worcester.
