SIR - I would like to offer the opportunity for your readers to participate in Marie Curie Cancer Care's new life changing challenge - Project Kenya.

This is the first year that Marie Curie Cancer Care is running a trip which combines trekking with development work.

Project Kenya is a two-fold challenge; participants will be helping refurbish a school for Maasai children and also trekking through the stunning Kenyan Rift Valley.

Project Kenya would appeal to people who really want to get stuck in and make a practical difference in the developing world while knowing that their fund-raising efforts will be making a difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families in the UK.

We already have a few local participants who are taking part in the Kenya community challenge over the next year. These people will help to help raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses.

As you may be aware, it costs the charity £15 for each hour a Marie Curie nurse attends a patient at their home. The proceeds from this challenge will directly fund more than 120 nursing hours per participant, I'm sure you can understand how much these hours will be appreciated by both the patients and the families.

Anyone interested in finding out more should contact Amy McKay - community fund-raiser for Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire on 0117 9427132.
