Sir - After serving in the Fire Brigade for over 32 years until I retired, starting in the Worcester City and County Fire Brigade, the Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade and the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, I should know what I am talking about. Finding out that the Chief Fire Officer, Mark Yates has been given £3000 towards private back surgery, comes as no surprise to me at all. When I was in the Brigade the perks that senior officers had, such as top of the range cars, to drop off and pick their children up from school and free food and drink, all out of tax payers expense in meetings, to name but two, was disgraceful .It's not just the £3000 that should be looked at here but all of our money wasted by people who think themselves above everybody else.
