Sir - The Worcester News edition dated 17 March contained two articles which demonstrate how out of touch our elected local representatives are.
Could someone kindly explain to councillor Gregson that the conclusion to the Council's own survey into what concerned residents most was traffic congestion. College Street and Deansway are a vital artery in the city traffic system and until, if ever, the Northern section of the ring road is completed there is no other way for traffic to cross the city. Whilst a plaza outside the cathedral may fulfil Councillor Gregson's political fantasies it will create yet more congestion and impose yet more misery on the travelling public.
Perhaps someone could also explain to Councillor Udall that the shuttle bus which ferried passengers across the bridge during the recent floods was the only means of getting from St Johns to the city and people used it out of necessity. In no way did it demonstrate the need or desire for another unused and unprofitable Park & Ride extravaganza. It has cost the council tax payer millions to prove that The Perdiswell and Six ways schemes didn't work. What more proof is needed?
What planet are these people on. Have the lunatics finally taken over the asylum?
