Sir - In general, I concur with Emily Hall's points about atrocious spelling being a result of mispronunciation of the spoken language. She does, however, fall into her own trap when she says,' ....this is how people spell things wrong and write things down wrong..' I would humbly, if not pedantically, suggest that 'wrong' both times is incorrect. In her use, the word is an adverb and so should be 'wrongly'. Although, having noticed that the quality of English in "your" Worcester News has dropped away over recent months, perhaps she is in good company?
