Sir - Saturday March 15 marked the 3rd anniversary of the Syrian uprising. It is the greatest humanitarian crises of our times. It has claimed the lives of over 130,000 people and forced nearly 9 million people from their homes. More than 11,000 children killed and a million more living as refugees. Therefore the need for a powerful campaign calling for action is greater than ever before.
We now need to see the world powers - especially Russia, a key country in all of this- coming together and
demanding immediate access for humanitarian and especially into besieged and hard to reach areas of Syria.
Many people over the past few days have attended candlelit vigils and we, the Worcester group have been lighting candles and placing them in windows to remember those who have died and those that are suffering now, to show our solidarity with the Syrian people and let them know they are not forgotten. We would like to invite your readers to do the same.
The next meeting of the Worcester Amnesty group is on 16 April at the Hive in the café.
