Sir - As a St Johns resident of more that 30 years it saddens me to see what has become of "The Village in the City".
It's now no more than a University overspill halls of residence. While driving through the area this morning I counted over 30 "student rooms to let" boards within five streets of Comer Road, and that wasn't even going out of my way & deliberately looking for them. I saw five being advertised in one road of only 24 houses. How is that going to fit in with the councils "10%" guidelines?
Obviously, these houses are only the ones that are empty at the moment, they don't take into account the ones already filled to overflowing .In my street alone there are at least 15 filled properties with six boards advertising. Where will this end?
Please will you take up the challenges of the lowly St Johnsian and help us get this into the public's notice?
