SIR - I refer to the question posed by your correspondent Laurie Ward about Bevere Green (Letters, December 9).
The county council no longer has a county structure planning role - this was abolished by the Planning Act 2004.
This Act is consistent with previous Acts in that it ensures England's town planning system delivers national priorities.
The current revisions of the regional spatial strategy include, for example, options for substantially increased housing growth in line with Government policy.
The revisions are being led by the West Midlands Regional Assembly, but the final decision on the revisions will be made by the Minister for Communities and Local Government following a public inquiry.
The county council will work hard with the district councils and local partners to influence the outcome of the regional plan revisions to Worcestershire's best advantage.
MARK MIDDLETON, Head of planning, Worcestershire County Council.
