SIR - Bill Davison's letter (Letters, December 12) contains much muddled thinking about Christopher Whitehead School.
If the board of governors decided it would like to opt out of local authority control I would have no possible objection because the school would then become privately funded.
As long as a school is publicly funded it is under the control of the local authority, which is appointed by the electorate.
The expertise Mr Davison quotes would be best taken up with his representative on the local authority. I am merely a member of the public with a right to express an opinion.
The only opinion I have expressed is the hope that everyone would act in the best interests of the children -but that seems a long way from being fulfiled.
