SIR - You reported that an elderly couple in Warndon, Worcester, were robbed of more than £5,000 pounds by bogus water officials (Worcester News, December 12).
It is well overdue that the councils, police or the welfare bodies contacted all old folk to advise them to put their money into banks where it will be safe from deceitful people who prey on the old.
The Government decision to close post offices will make this worse as old people will have to travel to the towns and cities to withdraw their money, leaving them more vulnerable to cheats and thieves.
