IR - So Worcester City Council considers £24,000 to be peanuts (Worcester News, November 30) In that case, perhaps each and every council tax payer should in future forward each year a 1kg bag of peanuts in full and final payment of the council tax bill.
As the council equates peanuts to pounds sterling it would then have the correct resources to pay councillors' allowances and expenses and council officers' salaries in a currency appropriate to their performance.
After all, "if you pay peanuts you can only expect monkeys" and clearly in the light of the council official's comments and reasoning supporting the decision to spend this money we already have a group of monkeys, so why not give them peanuts?
