SIR - I must admit, I have no idea how local councils are run.
It does look to me that George Lord, the county council leader, has a good idea; to get rid of the district councils.
It does seem crazy to have seven chief executives. Each district having a legal department and finance department.
I say put it all together and save the council tax payers £15m. After all, councillors should be trying to reduce the council tax because these last few years it has gone up way above inflation.
