SIR - In reply to George Cowley (Letters, December 8). What is he talking about? Has he based this on research, or has he just assumed that under 25s and over 60s are poor drivers?
I am not in either of his categories but feel that he has got it wrong. What about those drivers in any age group who constantly use a mobile when driving or have been drink-driving.
What research is his statement based on? Has he direct access to insurance claims, or figures?
I will agree that we do have a culture of boy racers but in the case of newly qualified drivers, it would be in their interest to restrict the size of engine until they have experience on the roads. This is law for motorcycle riders, they cannot have a motorcycle over 33bhp after passing their test and this applies to them for about two years.
Does George just have a dislike for young and old, or is it the vehicles?
Joan A Taylor, Worcester.
