SIR - Worcester was promised spectacular Christmas lights this year. Where are they?
Apart from a couple of extra strings' in the Shambles and two trees (Cathedral end) illuminated, which are very pretty, I can't see any difference to last year's.
From Smiths the newsagent to Foregate Street there is nothing and yet there is a wealth of shops there. It is as if Christmas has been forgotten there.
Crowngate as usual is lovely. Regarding the two important trees - cathedral island and New Road - they are okay, but when they were covered in coloured lights they were better and the children loved them.
One goes in the shops which are cheerful, to shop but on exiting them, you step out to this depressing blue glow. Whoever chose blue bulbs, I'd like to know why, scarlet would have been heartening.
I don't think we have had the promise kept - the lights are not spectacular, just ordinary. Blue is a cold colour anyway.
SHIRLEY MASTERMAN, Worcester.
