SIR - I must agree with George Cowley, regarding ID cards (Letters, December 9).

If you've got nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. And then there's Robin Walker's letter (Letters, November 27) on how much it would cost to introduce ID cards.

He seems to think it will be a waste of money. I think it could save a lot of money.

It would stop people from coming to this country just to use our health service. I feel sure that would save millions.

Immigration could be controlled as well. By being able to sort our genuine asylum seekers.

A good politician would look at the pros and cons and would not reject it out of hand.

JOHN SHEARON, Worcester.
