SIR – It’s Christmas time in the City of Worcester, The cathedral bells are ringing today.

Kings School choir sing carols in the cloisters and stallholders wear Victorian dress.

A lady said ‘Buy a hat for Ascot dear or maybe there’s a summer wedding next year’.

Outside it’s just starting to snow and down the High Street the tourists flow.

The Guildhall has a bazaar and craft fair on.

Father Christmas comes over, ‘Ladies try your luck and win a prize on the tombola.’ Outside children from a local school stand watching their teacher.

Beside the crib with baby Jesus singing ‘Away in a Manger’.

Down one of the many back streets, a woman shouts out’ You look cold.

Have a drink of hot chocolate with rum or whisky that will soon warm you up.’ Smells of horse chestnuts, burgers and sausages on open fires.

There’s also a small fair across the street, lights, music, a ghost train and Ferris wheel.

Bumper cars and waltzers and also a carousel with beautiful golden horses.

Screams and laughter from parents and children as they go round and round.

A young man shouts out ‘Have a go on the darts and win a tiger or teddy.’ Then a costumed stilt walker makes his way around the crowd.

He takes his hat off and bows to us and said, ‘A merry Christmas to you all, have a safe journey home, And we hope to see you again next year, In Worcester at the Victorian Fair.
