SIR – A headline in the paper on October 25 suggested a possible rise of £20 per year in council tax.
These councillors have no idea how people are struggling.
I would have thought they would be reducing the council tax with all the people they are laying off and the services they’ve withdrawn.
Even switching the street lights off should have saved the council an awful lot of money but they still want to go to the well to draw more from it when there’s nothing there.
It’s about time they learnt to balance the books the same as most householders have to do, apart from the elderly and most vulnerable who have to pay this very cruel bedroom tax which has thrown most of them into arrears.
It’s got to be Tories, the nasty party, who come up with a thing like this.
It wasn’t these elderly people who caused the banking crisis but they are the ones who are being punished.
