SIR – Birmingham is buying lots of new trams from Spain to give their customers a more comfortable ride – at no extra cost to the customer.

Here in Worcester it looks as though we are going to have more bus cuts and councillor John Smith said some buses are going past with hardly anyone on them, costing the taxpayer a lot of money.

Why are so few people using buses?

The prices are far too high and there’s no real competition – Worcestershire should open up and have more competition.

And the council should dictate the price of the journey and not the other way round.

Cutting bus services might save the council money but they should consider the damage done to other businesses.

It was a year ago I said the buses, because of their high prices, were on a roundabout of diminishing returns.

Cutting buses now will make the roundabout go faster.
