SIR - I see that one Brian Hunt has voiced his opinion regarding the traffic around the cathedral on Sunday morning of Armistice Day (Worcester News, December 1).
I support his view 100 per cent. In voicing it he has kicked the top off an ants' nest.
What saddens me is the statement made by the local police - in short the full weight of the law will descend on to Mr Hunt if he tries to stop the traffic. It makes me wonder what if, and this is only a what if', all the people attending next year's event followed Mr Hunt.
Would we see paddy wagons parked in Severn Street, Friar Street and other surrounding roads nearby, with fully-clad police tooled up in riot gear ready to charge with batons aloft and arrest all misbehaving citizens of Worcester?
If so where in Heaven's name are they going to put them?
Even Tony Blair's so-called hard man, a certain John Reid, hasn't a clue what to with those thousands already enjoying the comforts of our prisons.
Of course he could take a few thousand persistent offenders and come to some agreement with, say, Turkey and pay that country the same amount it costs to keep them here in luxury.
A short a period of about 18 months to two years in a Turkish jail may put them back on the right track again.
Good luck Mr Hunt in your endeavours. I'm afraid I can't join you next year - all being well I'll be laying a wreath myself as I do most years.
