SIR - Regarding all the letters on stopping traffic to observe two minutes' silence.
My grandfather was killed in the Battle of Somme. My best friend was killed in the Falklands War. I wear my poppy with pride and donate generously every year. I observe the various silences as appropriate.
I think it is extremely arrogant of people to demand that everyone should, as a matter of course, be forced to stop driving for two minutes if they happen to be driving past the Cathedral at the wrong' time.
Are we not getting carried away with political correctness yet again? Were not these wars about freedom and liberty? Let people show their respect in their own way not in a way dictated to them by do gooders.
LES JANES, Worcester.
