SIR – As a result of James Connell’s article (Worcester News, October 18) on Workshy Worcester, your comment column asked “Who do we side with?”
If Dean Scollan is getting his rent of £250 per week at the YMCA including bills and two meals paid by benefits, who can blame him for turning a job down paying only £200 to “£250 a week after tax?
The system is all wrong and until the Government ensures all jobs pay a decent living wage above the benefit level, then nothing will change.
