SIR – I feel very sorry for those people who are getting into trouble with rent arrears.
It’s not really their fault, it’s this policy of the Government to take more money from them over spare bedrooms.
I see Robin Walker says it’s not a tax. Well Robin, if it’s not a tax it’s a sneaky way of taking more money from the most vulnerable.
The only real way is to build more homes at a sensible rent as people are grossly overcharged for their rent and will never save enough money to buy a house.
