SIR – Bravo Danny James, I totally agree with you.
Having been offered numerous jobs Mr Scollan should either take the jobs concerned or forfeit part of his benefits.
As quoted in your paper on Thursday, October 17, jobseekers’ allowance is supposedly paid to people who are available for and actively seeking work.
I myself have been made redundant for the second time in two years through no fault of my own and when trying to claim jobseekers allowance I was told that because I have a minimal pension I cannot claim any jobseekers.
I have worked and paid taxes and national insurance for the last 42 years and because I took out a private pension and didn’t burden the system I am penalised.
Please tell me the fairness in that?
