SIR – I am writing to tell you of my disappointment and anger as a result of a visit to the Festival Theatre Malvern on Wednesday evening, October 9.
My wife and I are regular theatregoers and always park in the Council House car park, arriving there at 7.15pm. On returning to our car after the performance I found, along with other theatregoers, an excess parking charge notice on my windscreen. Apparently, having checked subsequently with council staff, parking charges have recently been extended to 24-hour coverage but there was no obvious notice of that change.
Perhaps a warning note on the windscreen would have been more appropriate than a ticket?
Anyway, the point of writing is to say that the experience has coloured my view of Malvern. Although my wife and I have been regular theatregoers and shoppers in Malvern, it will be Worcester, Tewkesbury and Cheltenham which will have the benefit of our visits and spending in future.
Well done Malvern!
