SIR – I have always maintained that Worcester should go for an eight-lane swimming pool, but if it would only be possible by allowing a supermarket, as in Tom Edward’s report, (Worcester News, October 10) being on the same site, then it is just not on!
As I’ve said before, straighten and widen the bend opposite the tip and make the Astwood Road junction with Bilford Road safer for pedestrians and Perdiswell could safely cater for the pool, leisure centre and a ground for Worcester City Football Club with a better road system than it is now.
But add a supermarket to the equasion and complete chaos would prevail.
There is one possibility, if the supermarket agreed.
In view of the fact that the park-and-ride closure seems highly probable due to lack of support, could not the store build on that site, which is only 440 yards from the present leisure centre?
