SIR – As you may be aware Nunnery Wood Sports Centre is now closed on Fridays.

As a regular user and member of the centre I am very upset by this move.

The only days I can use the centre are Fridays and Saturdays due to work commitments.

As I play in the squash leagues it is now extremely difficult to play my games and rules out playing more than once a week.

As this decision was taken before handing over the facility to Wychavon I can only assume that it was part of the deal. We lost squash courts in St John’s because of the poor negotiating by the council during its rebuild and now find it even harder to find available slots.

This has led to people stopping playing or, if they live nearer to Droitwich, using the facilities there.

I cannot understand the council’s attitude to sports in Worcester. Is there some way that Worcester News can be involved in a campaign or at least highlight the pathetic legacy of sports facilities left by Worcester City Council.

They, as councillors, are supposed to represent the people.

Why do they not do this?

Why were members not consulted before the decision was made? Perhaps if they had, the members would have been able to offer a way of resolving these problems.

Please help.
