SIR – This is an interesting article, which concludes “No new roads for Mr Toad”: http://www.economist.com/ node/21563280 I’ve noticed that many younger people are now using buses and trains for a number of reasons. No point spending a fortune on new roads to mollify my fellow ‘baby boomers’ who consider themselves entitled to congestion-free driving (like in the 60s), when most of us will be dead within 25 years.
I quote the German road sign – ‘Don’t complain about the traffic – you are the traffic’.
