SIR – I agree totally with your news story on the front of the Worcester News on Monday, September 30, re: the siting of A boards.
I use a mobility scooter and find it an increasing problem in certain areas of the town centre due to these boards being placed in the middle of the path, making it impossible to get past.
Added to the mix are lampposts, bollards and high kerbs that cannot be accessed.
I find St Nicholas street in particular awkward, outside O’Neills, as they often block the dropped kerb as well.
It must be a minefield for visually impaired shoppers as I find it stressful – and I can see where I’m going!
And on that note please, please would pedestrians try to walk in a straight line, as again this is yet another problem to negotiate when they suddenly step, or more often wander, like a crab sideways, bump into me and then tell me to watch where I am going!
The fact they have walked into my side seems to have escaped their notice.
I am always mindful and respectful of walking shoppers – I wish they would extend the same courtesy to those of us who now are reliant on scooters/ wheelchairs.
My scooter has given me back a quality of life and freedom that I had lost for a while and having been independent and a fully paid up member of the human race, I now enjoy my trips into town to meet family and friends once again.
We can all co-exist with a little tolerance on all parts and yes, I do see inconsiderate scooter users and will also tell them to slow down when I see them.
