SIR – Having lived in the vicinity of Gheluvelt Park in Worcester for more than 50 years, I was amazed last autumn to watch the magnificent weeping willow by the bandstand being drastically pruned.
In fact, I had never even seen it trimmed before, let alone reduced to just a few leaved branches.
Throughout the winter, spring and summer, I was fascinated to see greenery once more appearing.
Now the tree has fully recovered to the extent that it seems even better than originally. Credit is due to the Worcester City Council arboriculture team who do such good work on most of the city’s trees.
