SIR – I was dismayed by your misinformed and provocative article inaccurately entitled ‘Police patrols in our playgrounds’ (Worcester News, September 13).
The community support officer whose desk will be at our school was at the request of the police due to their lack of office space and a desire to get CSOs based in the local community.
Hopefully, the impressive CSO will get to know our young people.
He will not be involved in discipline or patrolling our playground as this is not needed.
I can only conclude that this was an article designed to ‘rabble rouse’ which is sad when there are so many positive non-stereotypical stories in all our schools.
For example, we have:
- Recently been re-awarded international school status;
Just gained outstanding Ofsted for our behaviour and safety;
- 10 students recorded 10 or more A*/A grades in this summer’s results.
