Sir – Worcester Labour Party is claiming credit for the improvements to Fort Royal Park.
Many people can genuinely say that they played a part – from both the old and new ‘Friends’ organisations through the previous Conservative council which put the money in the budget, the local Cathedral ward Conservative councillors who ensured it stayed available to be spent, the project officers from the county council, local children and their families, and the Battle of Worcester Society.
The only people who had absolutely nothing to do with it were the Labour Party.
Indeed, Councillor Joy Squires – now Labour’s parliamentary candidate – claimed that local people did not want the work to be done.
Labour councillors actually voted against the budget. What a nerve Labour has now to claim credit.
