SIR – This county owes a huge debt of gratitude and wisdom to Ed Miliband who ensured that this country did not go to war yet again.
It would have been the UK’s fourth Middle East war in 10 years.
At last we have at least one leader of a main party who is prepared to stand up and say “no more”.
So, well done, Ed. You have shown thoughtful and firm leadership just when it mattered so much.
While the Labour Party genuinely believes in the United Nations, [David] Cameron/[Nick] Clegg clearly only invoke it when it suits them.
It’s called hypocrisy of the worst kind. In 2010 a UN investigation established that Israel had committed war crimes against the people of Gaza in which Israel murdered 1,500 people, one third of them children, and five times more than the UN has found in Syria.
So what have Cameron/Clegg done about that?
Any missile strikes against Israel?
No, the truth is that there is one standard for Israel and a very different one for Arab countries, especially those that have the guts to stand up to Israeli occupation.
