SIR – I see the the head of policing in south Worcestershire [Superintendent Mark Travis] says that if people are “dealing drugs in the area we will pursue you with all the resources we have to prevent you from committing crime” (Worcester News, August 3).
Now I’ve seen on television the police raiding a drugs house using an implement that just bashes in the door.
It makes good viewing but the more I see of it the more I think it is the wrong way to go. A lot of these people who take drugs need help. It should be a medical problem not a police problem.
I was addicted to smoking tobacco and was able to get help with patches to wean me off and it worked. I haven’t smoked for 14 years.
Surely there should be help for these people who should be treated in the same way.
