SIR – Neil Watts in his Fair Point column (Worcester News, August 20) appealed to inconsiderate smokers to stop lighting up in some outside places.
As a fellow hater of smoking, I was thrilled when during 37 years as an office worker, legislation was passed banning the habit in all indoor public places.
Yet now, acccording to Paul Broom’s article (Worcester News, August 23), Worcestershire NHS Trust is reviewing smoking anywhere on site at its hospitals.
How can this work when the present policy of providing shelters for smokers at least 10 metres from buldings is not enforced?
I wish the trust every success as it is tragic that 100,000 people every year (the population of Worcester) die as a consequence of smoking.
