SIR – Re the recent stories in the Worcester News about taxis in the city.
I’m a delivery driver in a large lorry and have been delivering to Worcester for nine years.
The city has become a joke concerning the taxis and OAP parking.
There is a limited time for me to deliver to the city. I have to be out of there by 10.30am or I’ll get a ticket after the council made St Swithin’s Street a taxi sliproad.
The OAPs seem to park anywhere, presenting myself and many other delivery drivers with situations where we can’t get through.
Surely there should be a limit on the number of taxis available in the city centre and also tickets given to blue badge holders who have been reported for a parking offence. The council has issued too many licences and has flooded the city with ‘waste’ traffic.
The traffic wardens and civil enforcement officers are spineless and just let the taxis park where they want and wait as long as they want.
I’ve had many arguments with taxi drivers parking in my loading bay, but if I park in a taxi rank the wardens and police are on my case.
Review the amount of taxis in the city at any one time, please.
