SIR – In the light of county councillor Simon Geraghty’s decision to wind down park and ride services and county councillor John Smith’s comments on removing speed humps, the call (Comment, Worcester News, August 27) to do something to tackle Worcester’s congestion is ever more pertinent.
Isn’t it time for a high-level working party of county and city councillors is set up urgently to look jointly at the range of issues that this throws up? By that I mean traffic congestion, residential and commuter parking availability, speeding traffic, cycle lanes and costs/charges.
There is a real opportunity for both councils to work together, with politicians from all sides, but it needs to happen and it needs to happen with commitment and fervour.
At the moment, Worcester’s transport problems are blighting the city and its ambition.
ADRIAN GREGSON
Leader of Worcester City Council
