SIR – In view of the county council’s U-turn on park and ride (Worcester News, August 28) do you think they could give us back the lovely wide boulevard that The Tything used to be in the early 1990s?
The bus lane in The Tything has always been a quart in a pint pot with buses usually having to part-share the car lane as the whole road is not wide enough to carry three lanes of traffic.
I think in reality the introduction of the bus lane did little to improve journey times into the city yet it devastated the plethora of small shops and businesses along the way.
The removal of the bus lane and the reinstatement of wide lanes of traffic in each direction with easy roadside parking in appropriate places would do wonders for the wellbeing of this northern part of the city.
