SIR – I see Robin Walker is still blaming Gordon Brown for the credit crunch.

I think the credit crunch would have happened and it didn’t matter which party was in power.

But to blame Gordon Brown is a bit silly because it was a worldwide crunch which started in America and everyone’s to blame.

People were borrowing money they couldn’t afford and we had to have a freeze on council tax because the council tax had virtually doubled.

Most of the councils were Tory-run and the increases were not for better services.

They were to give the top people in the council huge salaries that couldn’t be justified.

So there had to be a freeze.

Now there’s one thing we can blame Gordon Brown for and that is bailing out the banks.

The bankers were paying themselves salaries and bonuses which couldn’t be justified.
